FAQ - Frequently asked questions about web design

Here are some questions and answers about web design that may be helpful when you are considering a website for your small business, and if you have any other questions please don't hesitate to contact us.  We are based in Wellington, but have customers all over NZ and worldwide - it really doesn't matter where you are.

Q: What is involved in the web design process?

We follow an easy 5-step web design process:

1. Establish your website needs
2. Agree on a web design & domain name
3. Develop your test site using the chosen web design
4. Review and update your content
5. Go live!

Q: How many pages do I need on my website?

The number of pages and content you include depends on the type of website you need.  For example, you may only require a brochure style website - say, 3 pages to advertise who you are and where you are based.  On the other hand, a company selling multiple services may require many pages to describe each service. 

Whatever your needs, remember that we provide a FREE initial planning session, and will work with you to produce a page plan for your site.  We can also provide you with tips and tricks for writing the content, helping to ensure that you include those valuable keywords throughout your website.

Q: How long will it take to design and build my website?

This will depend on the number of pages and level of complexity of the site, but an average 6-8 page static site can be completed within 3-4 weeks (provided you have all the information to hand & graphics ready to go).

Q: How much will my website cost?

The price for a small business website depends on the number of pages and complexity of design.  As an example, for a simple static 5 page design with one email address link the cost would be $550 plus the one-off template cost (between $100 and $140).  Generally these sites would be need to be updated by Love2Web.

Content managed Joomla sites (that you can update yourself) start at $850 for a 5 page site plus $140-160 one off cost for static page design.  If you required Flash in the design (e.g. slideshows or moving pictures) the cost may increase.

In addition to this you would incur ongoing charges for web hosting and domain registration (about $80 per year for a static site or $150 per year for CMS sites).  This is very price competitive for these services - and the customer service is excellent.

Q: Can you guarantee that my site will be at the top of the Google searches?

No-one can guarantee your site to be top of the list - but Love2Web does ensure that the content of your site is keyword-rich which is one of the main factors considered by the search engines.  We also ensure that good metatags are included as these are used by Google to create search results. 

All sites developed by Love2Web have very good rankings in Google - most appearing on the first three pages when searches are done on the keywords for the related business.  It is worth noting also that search engine "rules" change regularly and we will always try to ensure that your site is search engine-friendly by keeping abreast of the latest updates. 

If high search rankings are paramount to your site, you may decide to use the services of a Search Engine Optimisation company (SEO).  We can recommend some options for you if this is of interest.  You can also consider buying Google adwords to get your site into the Sponsored Links on search results.

Q: What is web hosting?

Web hosting is a fee that you pay to have your site accessible on the Internet. It is paid directly to the web hosting company, but Love2Web can help you set up your web hosting (and domain registration).

Q: What template designs do you use?

We have two main template designers for static HTML and Joomla sites who we highly recommend.  Their templates are affordable, and they offer great creative style.  Check these out:

Q: What is a domain name?

A domain name is a specific web site address that you choose and register each year. Our domain name is "www.love2web.co.nz".

Q: Can I include a video on my site?

Absolutely!  A great (and inexpensive) way to include video, is to load up your movie to YouTube, and then embed the link in your site.  Another advantage of using these sites is that the movie is stored on their server, so it doesn't take up space on your site.
